About Till Sachau
Till has a Ph.D. in Structural Geology (computer modeling of deep-seated earthquakes), which exactly matches his passion for computers and geo-science. Over the years, his scientific research has shifted even more towards computational geoscience, allowing him to merge his expertise in geology with his skills in programming, computing and data science. This includes development for and deployment on computer clusters, (pre-/post-)processing data for research, visualization, modeling, publishing, teaching highly specialized and general computer courses.
As a scientist, Till has worked for several German Universities on a variety of subjects. His main subject is development of computational models for the deformation of materials and structures. This involves a multitude of methods, such as discrete and finite elements and Computational Fluid Dynamics. Among other topics, the simulation of fracture formation and of the deformation of anisotropic materials (like water-ice), have been subjects of interest.
Through this website, Till aims to impart his knowledge and insights. You'll find articles covering computational geoscience, data analysis, GIS, programming. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions or for collaboration opportunities — he will always be eager to share new ideas and projects.
Presently, his focus lies on time series modeling.
